Jeff, Woody's owner, showed me a socket I could use and I set up my 'office'. I don't know if he would have done if he knew I'd still be there12 hours later!
My Office
A different angle
Having spent hours in Woody's, using the wifi, Richard charging his iPad and Kevin charging his phone, whilst we only drank a couple of coffees and cokes, the boys finally got bored and went off to do their own thing. At last I could settle down to my brite three days blog updates. Unfortunately, I'm a slower keyboard user - two fingers at best but mainly one - so even just word-processing takes me a very long time. The net-book keyboard is tiny, so my fingers are all over the place and I keep accidentally dragging a finger across the touchpad, causing the cursor to go anywhere, taking blocks of text with it.
Not only did I have to write three days' blog entries, I had to upload images from camera to net-book, from net-book to Picasa., then Picasa to blog. I had the Devil's own job trying to upload to the blog from Photobucket, so had to use Picasa, which is Google-friendly. Because we'd done so much ,over the few days we'd been there, there were lots of photos and videos to upload and the videos took ages.
So, I was still at it when a fairly rat-arsed Kevin appeared wanting to eat. He'd been making more friends at the Rusty Rooster, whilst I'd been working away all day. I can't remember what he ate, but I had a Beef Philly with Tots, which was good. I should mention that, by now, I had bought a couple of Buds because I was a bit embarrassed about how long I'd sat there, not buying very much, at all, but eating their Cinnamon Cake. If Jeff or Jill were irritated by my prolonged visit, they didn't show it, bless them
Kev left to ride back to the Island, while he still could, but I still hadn't finished uploading stuff. Jeff wouldn't have a drink with me, because he was still working, but at least I was able to buy Jill one.as the last videos uploaded. When I set-off for the Island, I had been at Woody's for twelve hours. That suited me, as I hadn't had much to drink and would be able to join in with my Shovel Family revellers on their last night without getting shitfaced and consequently being in a state when packing up in the morning.
Well, there was no chance of that as, when I arrived on the Island, only Kev, Jeff, Todd and John were still in the marquee, others having retired or quietly gone back to their own camps. Kevin only had one shot of his, whatever it was, Scotch left, so I had that and a couple of cans of Bud, by which
time everyone else had had enough. To top it off, I discovered that, en route from Yutan, I'd lost my $60 shades and 40 Marlboro! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
We got the Things' cooler from our camp-site, put the beers we had left into Russ's coolers and returned the Things' cooler to their site. Even Kent's formerly brilliantly stocked bar area was empty and silent, so we wandered back to our tents. On the way back, I ponced a fag (hahaha) from John, who kindly gave me a pack of Pall Malls. I was really glad of his generosity later, when I was unable to sleep, being stone-cold sober and it being a very hot and humid night. Rich was happily snoring when we arrived, and Kev (who can't stand snoring!) joined him a few minutes later. I did get to watch the fireflies for hours, though, and listen to the various crickets, which was nice!
