Bruce and his baby boy, Surge, preferred to stay cool indoors.
While we dossed, Shirley did household chores. She then had to go and look after her grandkids for 24 hours. Bruce took us up to Red Rock Canyon. It's incredible to think this beautiful desert wilderness is only half an hour from the Strip.
The desert road
We came across some small Joshua Trees, which only grow in the Mojave Desert.
Although it was cooler up here than down in the Valley, it was still fugging hot, so we were glad to get back in the car and head once more for the concrete jungle and refreshments!
On the way to the Silverton Casino, we came across an accident.
But we were soon turning into the Silverton lot.
The Silverton has a marine themed area with an aquarium. Mermaid shows were cancelled today tho'. Did they know we were coming?
OCC bike - only fit for displaying like this.
There is an enormous Bass Pro Shop in the Silverton. I bought a loud shirt but I haven't got a pic - yet. I'd left my wallet in the car, so Bruce had to pay for it!
He's kissed a fair few of those!
We had a couple of complimentary Stellas and played some 25c video poker in the Mermaid Bar. These are live jellyfish in a tank up on the wall
We left the Silverton and went for a Dinner Buffet at The Cannery, which was OK but no steak. We still haven't had what we think of as a proper American steak. Maybe at hogs and Heifers BBQ tomorrow?
On the way back home, we called in to see Shirley and her grandson, JB, aged 5. He played with Kevin, who he referred to as the 'English Boy'. Hahahaha.
Got home, beer and fags out in the yard, thyen blog.
A bit of irony here. Goodnight, muchachos!
